Matchbox designs in the 1930s – In the 1930s, Shiseido's daughters with umbrellas were distributing matchboxes designed by the Shiseido Advertising Department to pedestrians on Ginza Street. At that time, matches were extremely popular and practical for burning ovens, candles and cigarettes. These matchboxes were bringing the elegance of Shiseido to the Japanese houses, which has been getting more Western style and modernized day by day.
